It has been my privilege to be a part of the Society of Critical Care Medicine since the mid-1980s, beginning as a postgraduate fellow. Membership allowed me cutting edge access to science, clinical medicine and world-class physicians. In addition to all these important career enhancements, the SCCM periodically expanded to showcase the euphonic talent of its members. One such occasion was the performance of the physician rock ‘n roll band, The CODES. We played during the 41st Critical Care Congress in November 2012. Even today, I get the occasional call to reprise this fun time.
