The American Board of Medical Specialties also requested formation of a committee to consider the establishment of a specialty for critical care medicine. I was honored to serve as the SCCM representative on this committee. These were among the most important milestones for SCCM during my presidency.”

Dr. Grenvik has been an honor to know since 2003… when he interviewed me for fellowship at Pitt! An incredible legacy he & Dr. Safar have left the world: in training, education, and defining critical care medicine. I would not be here today as an Intensivist if the doors were not opened to include Emergency Physicians in the mix of multi specialty critical care.
